Nursery Reveal

I talked a little bit about my vision for Aimee's nursery back in the summer when I shared the trials and tribulations associated with the curtains I made (white furniture, gender neutral wall color, fun fabric, etc.), but I never got around to showing off the final product. So without further ado....the big reveal! We are pretty pleased with how it all turned out--sweet and girly without being over the top. And I especially like that both Jason and I contributed to Aimee's room (me with the curtains, Jason with the painted walls and refinished white cabinet). Although she doesn't spend that much time in there right now, I hope Aimee will enjoy it for years to come! Just like her, it was a labor of love.

(All pics except the last one are thanks to the fabulous Leigh Dameron)

Here are the details:
-Wall color: Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue (lattice pattern courtesy of Jason's awesome/meticulous taping skills)
-Curtains: Wavery Pom Pom Play Spa (fabric from Fabric.com, sewn by me)
-Crib: Baby Mod Olivia from WalMart
-White cabinet: something we already owned and refinished
-Crib skirt: Etsy (seller BabyLove)
-Chair: our biggest splurge....Little Castle, ordered from Belfort Furniture
-Letter A: Craft Cuts
-Knit blocks: Dwell Studio (from Amazon)
-Dresser/nightstand: Ikea
-Somewhere over the rainbow picture: Etsy (seller sugarfresh, colors selected by me)
-Whale picture: Society 6

House Update

After having been gone the last few weekends, we decided to stop by the ol' homestead to see how things were progressing. The front doesn't look too different from Memorial Day weekend:

Although they have added some trim work around the windows as well as a temporary door. But the back-- well the back is an entirely different story:

We have brick! My guess is by week's end the front will be all bricked up also. To give you a sense of how it will all look-- the brick will be painted an white/off-white and the trim around the front box of windows will be a greyish-blue color. With a red front door to pull it all together.

Work seems to be progressing on the inside as well-- we can see evidence of plumbing and electrical work having started. Our pre-drywall inspection will probably be sometime in the next week or two!

On a related note, we bought our first real home purchase over the weekend-- furniture for our rooftop terrace! We had our eye on a set from Home Decorator's Collection for awhile and decided to go ahead and make the purchase while they had a sale going on. Although the set we picked (see a picture below) is on backorder, the estimated ship date is the first week of September which is actually pretty good timing for our mid/late August move.

I can't wait to sit out on our terrace this fall!

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you.....

Our very first Christmas tree!

Although last year was our first Christmas as a married couple, we did not get a real tree. I had a two and a half foot fake tree that I had been using for years so we decided to stick with that thinking that by this year we'd be out of our apartment and in a bigger space more suitable for a full size tree. I guess the joke was on us....a year later and we're still here. But I convinced Jason that we could find a corner in which to stick a real tree and after much cajoling on my part, he agreed.

After an hour at Home Depot, we left with a 6' Balsam Fir--the perfect size and shape for our apartment. And it's beginning to look (and feel and smell) a lot like Christmas!
